Because my love for beauty products is endless, I decided to do a new series called Friday Favorites. If you follow me on Snapchat (@brittbts) you know how I love to overview products. I thought this would be a fun way to highlight some specific favorites both on the blog and on snapchat!
For my first Friday Favorite, I wanted to discuss the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in the *oh so appropriate* shade called, ‘Champagne Pop’.
What is Highlighter?
For those unfamiliar, highlighter is a finely milled powder (also comes in liquid forms) that is purely shimmer. It is mainly applied to the top of cheekbones and sometimes down the middle of the nose to create a “highlighted” look that adds dimension while making your skin look glowy. Not all highlighters a created the same (i.e. chunky glitter=major no no). When finding the right product, highlighter can do wonders, especially for dull skin.
What make’s Becca’s highlighters so great?
Honestly, I debated buying this highlighter for a long time due to the hefty price tag. However when I did pull the trigger, I did not regret it! I also use it on all of my bridal makeup clients for that perfect wedding day glow–on top of what already exists!
The key to this highlighter is that the powder is beyond finely milled. It’s almost silky to the touch. This is so important because it allows you to apply an ever-so-slight amount to your face. This keeps it looking natural and not like you have a streak of glitter on your cheeks. Plus, it helps the product last so much longer. I’ve had my highlighter for 6 months and haven’t even made a dent yet! Highlighter is like an accessory to a great outfit. It’s not always necessary, but it really finishes the look.
Who can use highlighter?
Anyone can use highlighter. Becca does a great job with the shades for all skin tones. Highlighter can also be worn at any age. I especially recommend it for women over 40. As we age, our skin gets more dull-looking. My mom always shared that whenever I used a highlighter on her, people constantly asked what she was doing to her skin. Becca also makes a liquid highlighter that you can mix with foundation. This is another great way to help maintain that youthful glow in a very natural way. As for application, I recommend using a medium sized brush to gently tap into the product. This Elf brush (can be found at Target) works great!
