Shopping for Babies: SugarBaby Boutique

boutique shopping for baby

As you may already know, I recently became an Aunt to the most precious nephew anyone could ask for. There is just so much love for that sweet boy! Needless to say, spoiling him has taken full force. Isn’t that what Aunts are for!?

Whether you recently became an Aunt, or just welcomed your own bundle of joy, it can all be overwhelming with what products to buy and knowing what’s best for your little one. On Instagram, I am always finding cute boutiques for baby clothes, but recently came across a very special boutique that had an element I had never seen before.

SugarBabies Boutique, a store based in Seattle, WA, with a booming online presence, brings more to the table than just clothes, baby products, gifts, and maternity items. SugarBabies Boutique offers a community by having a blog for mother’s to refer to. It’s written by moms for moms. It includes everything from product reviews to breastfeeding advice to baby essentials.

Owner, Ashley, was kind enough to share some insight on how SugarBabies Boutique was founded, and the importance of what a “community” can do for new mom’s.

What is the most special thing about your Boutique?

The customer service is extremely hands on. We want our customers to feel a personal, one-on-one experience from the moment they walk in our store or exploring online. It’s truly about the experience and we want people to feel like they are at home. We pride ourselves on researching information for other mom’s so we can be the go-to place for all your baby needs.

SugarBabies Boutique is not just a shopping experience; it also has a blog component (written by mom’s for mom’s). Was this always a part of the plan or did it evolve after you opened the store?

The blog component was something that evolved. As the business grew over time, we looked for more ways to connect with mom’s. For example, we have an online chat for shoppers to ask any question about products or to help guide them to a specific post that may help with whatever they are experiencing. We have mom’s that work for us, so it really helps with personal experience and knowledge about a product or breastfeeding, etc. It really is a community, and not just a shopping experience!

What do you love most about being the owner of SugarBabies Boutique?

I’m here to make people happy–it’s a passion for me. It’s my priority to find the best products for your needs to be able to save you time and money. We want to give you the most detail we can about the products, and to give you confidence knowing you are buying a quality, long-lasting product that other mom’s love too. It’s hard enough to be a mom, let alone spending time and money on things that don’t work! We’ve all had that frustration, and I want to help take away that type of shopping experience.

Tell me about a typical day as a mom and as the owner of SugarBabies Boutique.

I have three kids, so in the morning I take them to school. I follow with going right to the shop (every day). There are five employees that work in store on an average day. We have an employee that works from California as well as blog manager that works from home. We are a diverse group as not everyone works in one location. We also pack and ship everything in store, so I manage the girls in store as well as the online world. I also do all of my own floor sets and design—which is something I love to do. I also direct social media. All in all, I am surrounded by incredible mommies—I feel so blessed and it makes my job so fun! It’s truly enjoyable every day, which is an amazing feeling.

After work I am busy (just like every other parent) taking my kids to soccer practive and other activities. I cherish every moment we spend together; having fun and making memories with my kids is why I work so hard.

I would be remiss without asking, what are the trendy items for boys and girls in your store?

Moccasins are currently the hottest fashion items for both boys and girls. For girls, the ‘bow-knot’ headbands are really on-trend. Teething necklaces are the best in-store selling items. There is also a new bib that is called “Neckerchew”. It’s basically a bandana bib with a teether attached! I gave one to my 6 month old nephew and his mom said he needed more!

A very special thank you to Ashley for helping me learn more about her very special Boutique!

SugarBabies boutique carries sizes from newborn to eight years. SugarBabies also carries maternity wear and needs, baby essentials, gear & travel, and other gift items.
